Ember Chapel's Genesis

Wax. Print. Sanctuary.

I’m Bethany—maker of wax and ink, collector of shadows and light.
Ember Chapel was born from a restless collection of hobbies and a longing to fill my home with beautiful, handmade things. It began with an experiment: pouring soy wax into vintage vessels, their glass catching the flame like stained windows in a forgotten chapel. I debuted these first candles at my very first vintage art market—on my 30th birthday in November 2024. It felt like a quiet vow, a symbolic way to cross the threshold into a new decade: start as you mean to go on, surrounded by light and creation.
With no blueprint except to follow what inspires me, Ember Chapel has grown into a gathering place for moody soy candles in colored glass, hand-printed linocut art, tea towels, and other small relics for the home. Each piece carries a blend of shadow and glow, timelessness and immediacy—meant to feel as though it’s always belonged to you.
I create first for my own joy: the moment the wax pools under a flame, the press of ink into fresh linen, the scent of something new and old at once. My hope is that what begins in my hands will end in your home as a small sanctuary—something that catches the light, invites stillness, and brings a flicker of magic into your everyday rituals.
So, welcome. Step inside the chapel. The candles are lit.
