In Season at Ember Chapel

There’s a quiet moment that comes before anything takes shape — before wax is poured, before sketches become prints, before a new season begins to announce itself. It’s the pause where attention returns to the hands, the light, the work in front of you. In Season begins there.

This blog is an extension of Ember Chapel: a place to document the slow unfolding of creative work, seasonal rhythms, and the process of building a handmade business alongside an ordinary, working life. It isn’t meant to rush ahead or summarize outcomes. Instead, it lingers with the in-between — the planning stages, the half-finished ideas, the rituals that make the work feel grounded and human.

I’ve always been drawn to the idea that creativity doesn’t exist outside of daily life, but within it. It lives in studio nights after long workdays, in sketchbooks left open on the table, in lighting a candle simply to mark the start of a task. Ember Chapel has grown out of that belief — that making things by hand is not just about the final object, but about the way we move through time while making it.

In Season is where I’ll share that process more fully.

Here you’ll find reflections on seasonal living, creative routines, and what it looks like to build something slowly and deliberately. Some entries may follow the development of a new candle or collection. Others may be quieter — notes on rest, transitions, creative fatigue, or the shifting energy of the year. This is not a space for productivity hacks or constant output. It’s a space for attention.

The name In Season matters. I don’t approach my work the same way year-round, and I don’t believe we’re meant to. Winter asks for consolidation and care. Spring opens space for experimentation. Summer holds momentum and long days. Autumn brings refinement and release. This blog will move with those changes rather than resist them.

If you’ve found your way here through my YouTube channel, In Season at Ember Chapel, you may recognize some familiar rhythms. The first video documents a small slice of my life and work — creative evenings, everyday routines, and the early stages of building Ember Chapel while balancing a full-time job. This blog runs parallel to that visual work. Where video captures texture and movement, writing allows for reflection and context — the thoughts behind the scenes, the decisions that don’t always show up on camera.

Neither space is meant to demand constant presence. Both are meant to be returned to when it feels right.

I don’t have a rigid publishing schedule for In Season. Posts will arrive when there’s something honest to share — when a season shifts, a project begins or ends, or a lesson settles enough to be named. That flexibility is part of the practice. So much of modern life pushes urgency; this space is an intentional counterweight.

If you’re someone who feels drawn to slow living, handmade work, ritual, or the idea that creativity can coexist with a very normal life, you’re welcome here. You don’t need to make anything, buy anything, or become anything different to belong in this space. You only need to notice where you are in your own season.
